In the department of La Unión in Llano de Los Patos, only 180 km from San Salvador, Las Tunas beach is open to the public anytime. Its outstanding features are its dark sandy beaches and rock formations of volcanic origin.

These formations are scattered along the coast resulting in natural pools. In turn, this makes it possible for the waves to be gentle and ideal for the enjoyment of all ages.

On the other hand, it has a beautiful landscape with a great variety of vegetation. Some of these are trees of various types, such as coconut and mango, as well as bushes, hawthorn, and other plants used for oil extraction.

On the other hand, the climate is always constant with very high temperatures. The annual average varies between 32°C and 34°C during the day and between 23°C and 25°C at night. It can reach an air humidity of up to 78% with rainfall of up to 197 mm and winds that exceed 11 km/h.


According to these data, the warmest days of the year are March, April, May, and July. Among the coldest are October, November, December, and January. Finally, the rainiest are May, June, September, and October.

Gastronomy

Las Tunas beach abounds in gastronomic richness as in any other El Salvador region. An advantage for tourists and locals who offer all kinds of traditional dishes, from sea and land, to international. They are this and fishing as their most important source of income.

But what kind of dishes can you find on Las Tunas beach? Honestly, there are all kinds, and the most iconic in the region, the famous stuffed lobsters, seafood, fish fillet, and shells.

Places near Las Tunas beach

But if you want more contact with nature and hiking, you can not miss the Conchagua Volcano. This volcano comprises the Ocotal and Banderas hills, with heights of 1,225 meters above sea level and 1,156 meters above sea level, respectively.
