Location and history of Tamanique Waterfalls

This beautiful enclave is in the municipality of Tamanique in the department of La Libertad. You can get there by taking the Comasagua route and thus enjoy great panoramic views to the west of El Salvador.

If, on the other hand, you are in San Salvador, the best-known way to get to the Tamanique Waterfalls is by taking the road that leads to Puerto de la Libertad and then to the detour that leads to the place.

Probably take the name Tamanique from the indigenous languages, whose exact meaning is unknown. Although there is no record of exactly when discovered the waterfalls, it seems evident during the first Mayan or Pipil aboriginal incursions.
