All of this is represented in its patriotic symbols that, by far, are clear evidence of nationalism, noble spirit, and struggle for freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A legacy left by their ancestors and that today, they are the <strong>pride of the nation<\/strong>. And how could they not be! If each one speaks for itself of work, dedication, and development. Characteristics generated a <strong>historical change to exalt the origins of such a great nation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"patriotic-symbols-of-el-salvador\">Patriotic symbols of El Salvador<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Suppose <strong>you want to know El Salvador<\/strong> and a significant part of its history, nothing better than to start with its national symbols. Through them, you will understand why it is a country that does not stop and has always been a fighter with a great thirst to show its roots to the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Without further ado, come and get to know El Salvador&#8217;s patriotic symbols and their meaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"1-national-flag\">1. According to historical data, between 1865 and 1877, it was similar to the <strong>flag of the United States<\/strong>. A white line in the middle symbolizes the peace and harmony of coexistence that characterizes the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2-prayer-to-the-flag-of-el-salvador\">2. Prayer to the Flag of El Salvador<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Prayer to the Flag<\/strong> was written in 1916 by <strong>Dr. David Joaqu\u00edn Guzm\u00e1n.<\/strong> In 2001 it became part of the group of El Salvador patriotic symbols by the National Assembly decree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It represents the enthusiasm and pride of all the people. The meaning of elements that compose it are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The triangle:<\/strong> represent the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Power of El Salvador.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The five mountains represent the volcanoes belonging to the nations of the isthmus, nature, and the Salvadoran volcanic soil.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The seas: <\/strong>this represents the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The rainbow and the sky:<\/strong> represent peace.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The cap:<\/strong> represents the proclamation of freedom and the people&#8217;s ideals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Indigenous spears:<\/strong> represent the Independence of Central America.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Laurel branches:<\/strong> composed of a ribbon of the colors of the flag and 14 segments to refer to the Departments of El Salvador.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Legends:<\/strong> each legend references idiosyncrasy, nationalism, and pride. One commemorates the Central American Independence, the next one carries the name of the Republic, and the last one is for the values of the nation, which are: God, Union, and Liberty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"4-national-anthem\">4. National Anthem<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Composed by <strong>General Juan Jos\u00e9 Ca\u00f1as<\/strong> and music by Juan Aberle, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/traditions\/national-hymn\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"9823\">National Anthem of El Salvador<\/a><\/strong> was presented for the first time on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/tradicions\/independece-day\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"8576\">September 15<\/a><\/strong>, 1879. Accompanied by the oath in favor of the defense of life and its welfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I stanza:<\/strong> it refers to the most perennial dream of the people, emphasizing peace, freedom, and a prosperous future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>II stanza:<\/strong> refers to the people&#8217;s tireless struggle to achieve freedom and how important it is to make it known. In short, a reminder of the struggle of their ancestors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>III stanza:<\/strong> it gathers all the Salvadoran spirit that represents respect for the ideals of others. National Bird: The Torogoz<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Torogoz<\/strong> represents the union of the family, given its behavior within its habitat. As part of its attributes, its colors, plumage, and colorful tail stand out. National Tree: Maquilishuat and Balsam Tree<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Maquilishuat and the Balsamo<\/strong> are the<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/traditions\/national-tree\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"9853\">National Trees of El Salvador<\/a><\/strong>; both represent the incredible biodiversity that abounds in the country. While Balsam, whose size varies between 15 and 25 m, has been used since pre-Columbian times for stomach ailments and as a healing agent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to this, the <strong>Balsam is an essential reference for the <a href=\"https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/departments\/la-libertad\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"9368\">department of La Libertad<\/a><\/strong>. Since in a significant part of the region, it grows naturally. Such is the case of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/villages\/comasagua\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"9627\">Comasagua<\/a><\/strong>, located right in the mountain range that bears the same name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"7-national-flower-izote\">7. National Flower: Izote<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the national symbols is the Izote flower, a bush of incredible beauty that stands out as one of the most important species of Salvadoran flora. We are talking about an ancestral legacy that represents the origins, identity, and traditions still in force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"8-typical-food-pupusas\">8. Typical Food: Pupusas<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Certainly, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/tradicions\/typical-foods\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"7567\">Salvadoran gastronomy<\/a><\/strong> is rich and abundant, but Pupusas stand out among all the recipes that are part of the typical food. In fact, in 2005, the Legislative Assembly declared the second Sunday of November as National Pupusas Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, although it does <strong>not officially belong to the national symbols<\/strong>, it is part of everything that exalts the <strong>identity of El Salvador<\/strong> and its inhabitants.
