{"id":8576,"date":"2021-12-23T01:08:00","date_gmt":"2021-12-23T01:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/?p=8576"},"modified":"2022-11-17T22:31:28","modified_gmt":"2022-11-17T22:31:28","slug":"dia-de-la-independencia-de-el-salvador","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/tradicions\/independece-day\/","title":{"rendered":"\u25b7 EL SALVADOR&#8217;S INDEPENDENCE DAY \u00bb Liberty"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Every September 15, the <strong>Independence Day of El Salvador<\/strong>, including that of neighboring countries such as Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica, is celebrated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This process that culminated on September 15, 1821, began with movements and uprisings in 1811 in El Salvador by members of the <strong>Church as Jos\u00e9 Mat\u00edas Delgado and Nicol\u00e1s Aguilar.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this reason, it is considered that <strong>El Salvador <\/strong>was a pioneer in the Central American independence processes, followed by the other countries that made up the General Captaincy of Guatemala, all under the dominion of the Spanish crown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"origin-and-development-of-el-salvadors-independence-process\">Origin and development of El Salvador&#8217;s Independence Process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To understand the process of the Independence Day of El Salvador, let&#8217;s go back a few centuries; when in 1524, the<strong> Spanish conquistador Pedro de Alvarado<\/strong> arrived in the now Salvadoran lands to install the first Spanish settlements in the New World.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Proclamacion-de-Libertad-de-El-Salvador.jpg\" alt=\"Proclamation of Freedom of El Salvador\" class=\"wp-image-8610\" srcset=\"https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Proclamacion-de-Libertad-de-El-Salvador.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Proclamacion-de-Libertad-de-El-Salvador-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Proclamacion-de-Libertad-de-El-Salvador-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Proclamacion-de-Libertad-de-El-Salvador-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption>Proclamation of Freedom of El Salvador. Photo by Theophrastus Wikimedia Commons.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>By January 1814, another insurrection was carried out with popular support but ended with imprisoned or murdered leaders. The deposed King, Ferdinand VII, returned to the Spanish throne and took strong measures against <strong>Central America<\/strong> by persecuting the independence fighters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gabino Ga\u00ednza was the Captain General of Guatemala<\/strong>. Flickr.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The educational institutions prepare their groups of students to participate in the parades, while the military does the same on this patriotic date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In schools and <strong>official organizations<\/strong>, they sing the National Anthem, to later go out to the parades in every corner of the country, and remember the national heroes. The latter participated in the deed that allows them today to commemorate the <strong>Independence Day of El Salvador<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the acts of homage, the students are accompanied by the music bands of their schools. Wikimedia Commons.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Generally, in the Plaza Libertad in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/villages\/san-salvador\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"7900\">San Salvado<\/a><\/strong>r, the <strong>President of the Republic<\/strong> sends a message to the nation with floral offerings. Photo by ElSalvadorViajar.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>What is now <strong>El Salvador was under Spanish rule<\/strong> for more than three centuries, which generated feelings of frustration over time, seeing all their fundamental rights diminished first as human beings, and then as a nation dependent on one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The old wounds were closed when the Act that originated the <strong>Independence Day of El Salvador <\/strong>was signed.
