Photo by ElSalvadorViajar.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>On one side is the church, an <strong>imposing temple dedicated to this Virgin<\/strong>, which had to be rebuilt after the severe damage it suffered after an earthquake in 2001. It is the center of the devotion of all the villagers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We went out to walk the surrounding streets and were pleased with what we saw. Most of the houses house small businesses dedicated to selling many things. Wikimedia Commons.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Patron Saint Festivities<\/strong>, in honor of the <strong>Virgin of the Immaculate Conception<\/strong>, Patroness of the village, are held between December 11 and 14, days in which the Ataquenses take to the streets with parties, music, and traditional Creole food stalls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another <strong>attraction of this town is its wide gastronomy<\/strong>, with dishes ranging from the famous pupusas, also the consomm\u00e9 de garrobo, rabbit with garlic or beef tenderloin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Try the traditional sorbets in blackberry, tamarind, or pineapple flavors. As it is a producing area, do not forget to try the delicious coffee of the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"lugares-cercanos-que-visitar\">Nearby places to visit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>surroundings of Concepci\u00f3n de Ataco <\/strong>offer alternatives to enjoy nature. Flickr.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Fifteen minutes from the Plaza, we arrive at the <strong>Mirador de la Cruz del Cielito Lindo<\/strong>, from which you will see the dimension of the whole town and have fabulous views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Approximately 12 kilometers from the city center are the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/aquatic-parks\/santa-teresa-thermals\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"7571\">Santa Teresa Thermals<\/a><\/strong>, where you can bathe in one of its pools with healing properties of different minerals. The place also has a restaurant and hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, just 20 minutes from <strong>Concepci\u00f3n de Ataco<\/strong>, on the road to Jujutla, are the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/waterfalls\/don-juan\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"7053\">Don Juan Waterfalls<\/a><\/strong>, a paradisiacal place where the forests of coffee plantations and the murmur of the rushing waters will take you to absolute rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hidden paradise of El Salvador is undoubtedly in Concepci\u00f3n de Ataco.
