For years its location changed from one department to another. Flickr.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Although it was formerly <strong>known as San Andr\u00e9s de Apaneca<\/strong>, in the Nahuatl language, its name means river of winds, and in 1893 it received the title of the village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to its <strong>geographic location<\/strong>, more than 1400 meters above sea level, it is the highest town in the country. Flickr.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>It is a beautiful place with cobblestone streets, white one-story houses, and tile roofs in most of them; the climate is delightful, <strong>even if it is sunny<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the center of this charming town is the <strong>Church of San Andr\u00e9s Ap\u00f3stol<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The old building was built in 1798 and remained standing until 2001 when a powerful earthquake <strong>caused severe damage<\/strong>. Since that date, it has been under reconstruction.
