Wikimedia Commons.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>History tells that it was <strong>founded during the XVIII century<\/strong>, in the private lands of the Avalos family, in what was called <strong>Hacienda San Nicolas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today it is a tiny town, with probably <strong>2,000 inhabitants<\/strong>, surrounded by forests that seem to protect the village and maintain an average annual temperature of 24\u00b0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, during the &#8217;80s, <strong>Cinquera was involved in a civil war<\/strong> that affected the village, causing most of its residents to flee to distant places and even other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the years, and around 1991, some natives returned to their homeland. Renew their lifestyle and offer themselves as a tourist destination with much to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"que-ver-y-visitar-en-cinquera\">What to see and visit in Cinquera<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We can get <strong>close to Cinquera by taking the <a href=\"https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/villages\/suchitoto\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"6128\">Suchitoto<\/a> road<\/strong>, a significant road that borders <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/en\/lakes\/suchitlan\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"9222\">Lake Suchitl\u00e1n<\/a><\/strong> offering great views.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/elsalvadorviajar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Lago-Suchitlan.jpg\" alt=\"What to see in Suchitoto. Photo by ElSalvadorViajar.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>We enter the <strong>village and see its few one-story houses<\/strong>, most with portals and graffiti referring to its recent past on some exterior walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We walk through it in a short time since there are only a few streets that cross it. In the center of the town is the <strong>Municipal Mayor&#8217;s Office building<\/strong>, and in front of it is the central park, a small space for the recreation of the locals. Wikimedia Commons.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>During February, they organize the town&#8217;s pilgrimages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>traditional food<\/strong> is filled with the flavors of dishes such as soups, either chicken or beef; likewise, chicken or grilled meat is delicious, and as an exotic dish, you can order iguana meat, which is said to be very tasty. Wikimedia Commons.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>So we went to the ecological park, a natural space recovered by the community, less than 1 kilometer from the urban area, which was the place where the guerrillas used to hide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a <strong>natural oasis for visitors<\/strong>, with well-marked trails where hikers will learn firsthand the places they hid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will see the bomb shelters and a Vietnamese-style kitchen, where food was prepared at subsoil level so that the smoke could not be seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This protected area is part of the <strong>Pacific dry forests of Central America<\/strong> and is home to <strong>many plant<\/strong> and animal species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the forest&#8217;s interior are the waterfall La <strong>Bruja and El Salton<\/strong> pool, where you can take a refreshing bath.
